There are a few campaigns each year that assist our clients with reaching their full potential, or feeling supported through challenging times.
YWCA Residents’ Christmas Stockings
Each holiday, the YWCA gathers items to help out Santa with filling stockings for our adult women as well as male and female youth residents. We do our best to give residents something wonderful to open on Christmas morning.
Some of the items in need are:

There has been an interest in purchasing specific items for some of the youth in Harmony House and Fair Winds. Get Gorgeous for Grad
Each Spring, the YWCA organizes Get Gorgeous for Grad. This is a program for young women and men who are either attending their Grade Eight/Highschool Graduations or Proms. Attending a formal event can be very costly! Some families find it challenging to purchase formal items. These youth can access formal wear for free. There is a wide assortment of gowns and suits available, with a variety of sizes.
Items required are:
- Gently used and current formalwear for females that are clean, free from stains and in good repair.
- Men’s suits of a variety of sizes. Grade eight males are harder to fit, so if you have a smaller suit at home, we’d love to take it off your hands!
- Formal footwear for men and women
- Panty Hose
- Men’s Belts
- Hair accessories
- Unused, unopened make up or cosmetics
- Jewlery and other accessories
- Services: Dry cleaning, seamstress, floral, etc.
All donations for Get Gorgeous for Grad are tax deductable. Please drop off donations to the front desk of the YWCA.
The YWCA would like to thank Mary Kay Cosmetics for their generous donation of both make up products as well as the professional services to do the make up of our female graduates. Several girls had their make up done by professional Make Up Artists and felt wonderful heading to their special events.
The YWCA would also like to recognize Dragonfly Salon and Spa for their service donation. Several girls had their hair done for their big day and were truly pampered!
Cash donations are appreciated to purchase things like specialty undergarments, corsages, etc.

Annual Auction
The YWCA holds an Annual Auction each year and solicits for items for silent bid. New items such as pieces of art, seasonal activities, jewlery etc. are appreciated as well as experiential options (i.e. spa gift certificates).
